A niche perfume is a fragrance far removed from the mass market: high-quality raw materials, original compositions and a distinctive signature. Rather than aiming for broad appeal, niche houses focus on character – a fragrance should evolve on the skin and be unmistakable.

How do I find the right fragrance for me?

Take your time and wear the fragrance for a few days in everyday life. With our 3 ml decants you can discover at leisure how a perfume unfolds on your skin. Many people don’t find their signature scent with the first spray, but after a few days.

Do you offer samples or decants?

Yes. We offer a 3 ml decant of every fragrance in our range, so you can get to know your favourite before committing to a full bottle.

Stora Skuggan

Stora Skuggan wurde 2015 in Stockholm von fünf Gestalter:innen gegründet – Anna, Martin, Jonas, Olle und Tomas –, die über Design, Illustration und Handwerk zum Duft kamen, nicht über die Parfümindustrie. Der Name bedeutet „der große Schatten" und verweist auf ein Naturreservat nördlich von Stockholm, vor allem aber auf das Unerklärliche, das immer knapp außerhalb des Sichtbaren liegt.Jeder Duft entsteht vollständig im eigenen Studio: Idee, Formel, Flakon, Verpackung und Bildwelt gehören zusammen und erzählen dieselbe Geschichte – gespeist aus Mythologie, Geschichte, Mystik und Popkultur. Entwickelt wird im Kollektiv; wie die Gründer:innen es beschreiben, muss jede Idee „durch zehn Nasenlöcher", bevor sie in die Kollektion aufgenommen wird.Erkennbar sind die Parfums an ihren schlanken Glasflakons mit den übergroßen, von Hand marmorierten Kugelverschlüssen – keiner gleicht dem anderen.

Tomas Hempel

Co-founder & Perfumer

Tomas Hempel is a co-founder of Stora Skuggan and the perfumer behind the Stockholm collective’s fragrances. Like his four co-founders, he came to fragrance through design and illustration rather than the traditional perfume industry. The formulas are created in the collective’s own studio in Stockholm and developed together – every idea, as the founders put it, has to pass through ten nostrils before it makes it into the collection. His work is characterised by unusual combinations of raw materials and by fragrances that would rather tell a story than simply aim to please. Mistpouffer took him four years and several hundred trials.

We are Luca (27) and Lina (23) – Germany’s youngest niche perfumery. With our boutique in Mannheim, we turned a shared passion into our profession: long-time perfume collectors, now authorised retailers of selected niche brands.
