The name Patchouli Noir suggests a dark, earthy fragrance – yet Christian Provenzano composes a decidedly brighter, more romantic reading here. He places the patchouli note in the background and lets it emerge from a lavish bouquet: red berries, bergamot and pink pepper open fresh and berry-like, while at the heart a classic bouquet of Turkish rose, osmanthus, jasmine sambac and creamy orris root blossoms. Only in the base does the fragrance reveal its darker profile – patchouli, labdanum and cistus create a resinous, softly smoky depth that carries the fruity-floral structure without weighing it down.

Despite its dark name, Patchouli Noir is a bright, almost sunny fragrance – fruity, floral, with only a hint of earthy patchouli depth in the base. It works well at the office and in everyday life, but reveals its true seductive power in the evening and on nights out. It carries you through every season – in spring and summer thanks to its fruit-and-blossom opening, in autumn and winter thanks to its increasingly warm base.
